Mining and Supply Chain Standards are becoming increasingly relevant in regards of mineral supply chains. Next to a strong dynamic in the development of individual standard systems, there is already a wide range of options available. These differ significantly in their ability to serve as effective instruments in due diligence. While the landscape of standards will continue to evolve, we as Mercedes-Benz take our role as end user seriously and aim to assist our suppliers in identifying the appropriate standard for their purpose. With this in mind, this guidance articulates what Mercedes-Benz considers as necessary and focuses exclusively on the structural ability of standards to serve as effective due diligence instruments. Through our memberships and increasingly leadership positions we hold in IRMA, TSM, RMI and ASI, we will continue to work towards bringing the formal improvements to life and create actual impact for affected rightsholders.
